Many of our children go hungry each weekend as families struggle to stretch their food dollars to provide food for them. Hungry children cannot learn. They do not run and romp and play. Our goal is to make hunger in Tullahoma a thing of the past and to give hope to our children where weekends are filled with laughter and fun, not despair and worry.

5 Loaves 4 Kids provides 250+ weekend food bags to critical needs children in pre-school through middle school. Each bag contains 12-15 non-perishable, single serving food that requires no electricity, water or a can opener as these things are often not found in the homes of children of dire poverty. For the 2009-2010 school year we will provide almost 9000 food bags at a cost of $3.89/bag. 

In order for this to happen over 175 different community volunteers work throughout the year to raise funds and to pack and  deliver food bags each Thursday. Teachers place the bags in students backpacks to take home on Friday.
