Help seniors take care of thier pets.Quad City Animal Welfare Center

The name of my program is the side-by-side program. We are completely volunteer based. What my program does is pair up a volunteer with senior and we help take care of their pets; anything from walking, grooming, cleaning litter boxes, nail trimming, and even bringing the owner and pet to the shelter for vacciantions or spay/neuter. Seniors need to fill out an application so that we can get a understanding of their needs and how often they nedd our assitance. Currently we are planning on being able to help 1-2 times a week and we are starting small with about five seniors. However, I have high hopes for this program. Not only do I want to expnand and help all the seniors we can, but if I can get all the resources I need,(volunteers, supplies, etc) I want those that are disabled or have a terminal illness care for thier pet. Animals are very benficail in our life and I am hoping that will my program prevent loved pets from ending up in shelters.
