Overview
Gourds & Soil (a division of Chords & Oil), in conjunction with the Common Ground gardening group, will buy seeds and tools to plant several thousand square feet of vegetable and native plant garden plots in our lot at 19th & Fillmore. We will start a small Pawpaw orchard. The produce will belong to the people who work in the garden - it will be volunteer-run.
We started a garden in the fall of 2009, and hope to expand it significantly. This project has been taken care of by a handful of dedicated Chords & Oil members and some neighbors. With money for promotion, we could share with a bigger part of the community what we hope to accomplish - with their help.
The Chesney Park neighborhood is located in central Topeka, and is home to Washburn University, and several thousand Topeka residents.
